STORE UPDATE - 03.31.20
Per the guidance of Governor Wolf, it appears we will need to keep Towne Book Center closed until the end of April. As such, all in person events at Towne have been postponed or rescheduled. As we receive more information from our authors scheduled to appear during this time, we will update our social media with new event dates or any information we may have for virtual events with our April authors. Due to economic needs, we will also be reducing staff hours. This WILL NOT interfere with our processing of web orders that are being fulfilled by our warehouse as getting you the books you need in a timely matter is our first priority during these difficult times. However it may increase the wait time for an email response from our manager, Sarah (email@example.com), who has been handling all of our customer service during this time.
Supporting Towne While We're Closed
We're so thankful to everyone who has been emailing and sending messages of support these last few days - we're so grateful to be part of such a strong community of independent bookstore lovers!
We've spent the last 36 hours trying to come up with a plan that allows us to not only serve our community but follow the guidelines around social distancing. We feel confident that we have just such a plan!
If there's a book (or books!) that you're interested in, create a web order on our website, www.townebc.com, and we'll send the order directly to our distribution warehouse (Ingram), and they'll fill the order and send it directly to you house. Most items will ship from the warehouse in Chambersburg, PA. Please include your email in your web order as it will be the best way for us to contact you if there are any issues and you will also get a shipping notification from the warehouse when you're book ships!
We've added a FREE SHIPPING option for orders as well and items with Free Shipping will arrive within 3-7 business days. If you'd like your books sooner, we still have UPS ground, UPS 2-day and UPS overnight shipping as options as well.
If you've already placed an order before we closed our doors and haven't heard from us about it's status, but you also haven't received it, please contact our manager, Sarah, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and she'll take care of making sure you get your order as soon as possible.
If audiobooks are your thing, then we strongly recommend checking out Libro.fm where you can sign up for a subscription, similar to the online retail giant's model, and we get a portion of the proceeds. This is an unprecedented situation and we want to be here for our community so we have decided to close our doors for the next two weeks, per the guidelines of Governor Wolf, the CDC, WHO, and PA Department of Health.
We appreciate all of your support and we look forward to seeing your bright and healthy smiles when this storm that we are all weathering is over. We wish you and all of your loved ones the best of health during these trying times.
